20 February 2010. Museum of Transport

It was recently announced that the museum would be closing in April, in preparation for its move to a shiny new home next year, so it seemed like a good idea to go for one final visit to the old place.

There are plenty of shots on Flickr. My main aim was to document the museum. It's an odd place. The interior is, to be blunt, grotty (apart from a snazzy black and white tiled floor). The cafe is awful. And the exhibits are an odd mixture... There's a fine selection of old Scottish cars ( a surprising number of cars have been made in Scotland) supplemented by a seemingly random selection of other stuff - a Ford Anglia, as Volvo P1800, and old Renault, a Porsche, and so on... There's a decent selection of motorbikes and pushbikes... some trains... some other stuff... It will be interesting to see what they put in the new building.

Speaking of which, the new building has been designed by Zaha Hadid. I have seen buildings by pretty much all of the other big name architects, but I have never (knowingly) seen one of hers, so I'm looking forward to that.

13 February 2010. High Street

I haven't been taking many photographs recently. No particular reason for that - I suppose it has just been a lack of inspiration and a lack of outdoor time. Anyway, we went for a wander up the High Street yesterday before meeting A for some food at the Kurdish restaurant. The food was OK, but we won't be hurrying back, particularly as it came to £25 each with no drinks. It would have been reasonably priced at half that.

Now it's Sunday evening. Drat.
