I walk past this building every day on the way to work and every day on the way back. I have been walking past this building every day on the way to work and every day on the way back for about 13 years now. Twice a day x 5 days a week x 47 working weeks x 13 years means that I've walked past this building about 6,000 times.
Originally it was a school. By the time I started walking past it on the way to work and on the way back it was being used as Council offices. Then it was bought by the property developers. There was a brief flurry of activity. Then nothing. I shall keep taking photographs of it occasionally. Here's how (a bit of) it looked 18 months ago:

WoW! 6000 times... Now that has me thinking about how many time I have walked Spence in and out of the house in 37 months after hours.

Great shot of a historic building!
It's a lovely looking building. What a shame that it's in such a state.
ReplyDeleteYou've walked past it a few times at the weekend too! It makes me angry to see so many beautiful buildings left to fall down. The law on conserving them is too rigid especially in a recession.
ReplyDeleteSince I came to the UK I have always been amazed to see large, disused buildings. I guess in Africa nothing goes to waste. Your photos rock. (My granddaughter has been influencing my vocabulary).
ReplyDeletePerhaps its time you changed your route to work! You'll have worn a groove! ;)
ReplyDeletebeautiful old buildings in this state make me sad ... we are an incredibly wasteful society - Bureaucrats tend to like it only if it is shiny and new!
When building industry picks-up will likely be demolished. Look forward to pictures of bad architecture :-(
