Raeburn House Christmas Trees

03 December 2009, originally uploaded by sleepyduck.

I have photographed the Raeburn House Hotel before. It closed many years ago - I'd guess it has been 4 or 5 years - and has remained empty and neglected ever since, with renovation and/or redevelopment being delayed by planning objections, financial problems and who knows what else. But every December, the Christmas tree sellers move in. Which somehow only serves to accentuate the tackiness and sadness of it all.

  1. But they are quality trees, apparently! You're right, very tacky, especially trees in hairnets.

  2. Looks a fine building, pity it is disused.

  3. This is a lovely shot of it. I like how the light is hitting the trees wrapping.

    Hooray! It's Friday!
