I usually start planning a holiday around the turn of the year. This year's planning consisted of thinking about places to go but not doing anything about arranging to go there. Eventually, about a month ago, I finally got my act together - by which time, Arran was the obvious, easy, short-notice option. It also turned out to be the ideal option for the week when an Icelandic volcano decided to bugger up the entire UK air transport system. Apparently some of my friends are currently enjoying a bus journey back from their ski-ing holiday...
I'm sad not to be on holiday any more, but happy to be home. Always that ambivalence.

Yes, Arran turned out to be a more than excellent choice.
ReplyDeleteI always feel really sad to be returning home after a holiday, perhaps I should just settle for the life of an international traveller?
Arran looks so fantastic it wouldn't surprise me if you didn't go there again... particularly if we are all going to have to give up flying for the duration!
ReplyDeleteThe air looks so clear there and the colours so bright! Obviously you were well out of the volcanic ash. Since I moved to the Midi, I always feel happy to get home too.
